About the artist:
Kade Chan Pak-hei (b. 1993) is a professional origami artist, designer, and the founding chairman of the Hong Kong Origami Academy. A graduate of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s School of Design, he began exploring origami at age 12 and has since created over 300 original designs. With more than 19 years of teaching experience, he is known for his dedication to advancing origami as both an art form and an educational tool.
Passionate about the therapeutic potential of origami, Kade has organized more than 500 public events and exhibitions highlighting its benefits for individuals with ADHD, autism, and dementia. He has developed a training scheme for instructors to promote origami’s ability to improve focus, emotional expression, and cognitive development. His work blends creativity with social impact, fostering greater awareness of origami's real-world applications.
Kade’s contributions have earned him international acclaim, including the Éric Joisel Award from Origami Canada and the Yoshino Issei Fund from the Japan Origami Academic Society. He has been invited to speak and exhibit at leading conventions worldwide, such as Origami USA and the Korea Origami Convention, and was a featured speaker at TEDx Victoria Harbour in 2019. That same year, he helped set a Guinness World Record for the world’s largest origami lesson.
Blending design and innovation, Kade founded ORIME, a brand that explores the use of origami folding in industrial design. One of his signature projects is a transformable leather handbag that shifts in size and form. Looking ahead, he continues to explore how origami can intersect with fields like medicine and architecture, while remaining committed to its therapeutic value and artistic evolution.
