Alfred Carleton Gilbert partnered with magic manufacturer John Petrie in 1907 to create the Mysto Manufacturing Company. Mysto Magic provided years of magic sets with a variety of tricks in them such as sleight of hand and illusions. In 1919, the two parted ways and Mysto Magic became A.C. Gilbert Co., who is also the inventor of the Erector Set. These magic sets were advertised as “interesting and fascinating entertainment for young and old.”
