Television Receiver
Philco
1959
The Philco Predicta was marketed as the “television of the future” when it was released in 1958 and was the first swivel-screen television. The tubes on this model were thinner than any on the market. The safety mask that separated the picture tube from the glass also featured a new plastic called “tenite,” which is made from soft wood. This plastic produced a greenish tint, adding to the unusual appearance of the model.
