Electric typewriters were faster and easier to use than their manual counterparts, and required less force to operate the keys. They were marketed as being compact to take up less space in the office while not sacrificing efficiency. Jim Adams wrote his book "Conceptual Blockbusting" on this Smith-Corona 250 typewriter in 1974.
