Brass enclosure, lever on right side. Intended for industrial use and often used with printing presses and in the textile industry. Artifact label reads: Mechanical Counter GDR Hubbard, New Haven, CT Circa 1880s Elm City Counters were designed for industrial use in the textile or print making industries. These counters connected to a printing machine and served as a method of keeping track of completed work. As an item was completed, the lever triggered the number dial to roll over, keeping an accurate count of lots completed on a specific machine.
