General Notes

Note

hand held seed planter Artifact label reads: Seed Planter Likely: Acme Potato Implement Co., Traverse City, MI Circa 1900 A variety of mechanical devices were invented in the late 1800's and early 1900's that made it easier to plant large plots of land. This clever device has a reservoir of the seeds that feed single file to the metal tip. When stabbed into the ground, the extended lever is lifted up by the dirt surface which forces the metal tip to open, allowing the seed to be deposited into the dirt.
