Spring Scale
Hanson, Chicago, IL
Unknown Date
The Hanson Scale Company focused on spring scales in all configurations, from hanging spring scales to countertop models. The founders of the company, Marius and William Hansen, were machinists by trade and Marius had the idea to build a scale out of sheet metal instead of cast iron. The early scales were sold to Mr. Wrigley of chewing gum fame who became a long-term client of the Hansens, whose last name became Anglicized to Hanson on the business paperwork.
