Prior to electric refrigerators, food was kept cold in ice boxes. Blocks of
ice were delivered daily and held in the upper left compartment.
The melting water drained through a pipe to a pan underneath the box.

3 panel wood doors, metal (brass?) hinges, 2 small doors on left, 1 large door on right, porcelain or enamel lined doors and interior except ice container which is galvanized, tongue & groove back, wire shelves.
