Unguent jar in shape of bust of a young Nubian/African boy with an elaborate Egyptian-style headdress. Hinge on the top of head with a cylindrical opening.

Context

This graceful, elegantly proportioned perfume vessel portrait of a young African boy illustrates the fusion between Roman and Egyptian culture. The portrait image, surmounted by an elaborate wig, recall the sculptures of Upper Egypt at a much earlier period.
