Description

The rim is flat with the lip broken in two places. The cylindrical neck widens at the bottom where it joins with the body. The body has two distinct bulges identified by tooling-lines, one just below the neck, creating convex sloping shoulders; the next bulge creates a bulbous body. The base is small and concave. There is some iridescence on the vessel, encrustation, and a rolled up paper inside.

This style of vessel is known throughout the Roman East, appearing to be especially popular in Cyprus; however, these vessels are rare in the Western Empire.
