Context

Candlestick bottles evolved out of the earlier piriform bottles. Their necks grew longer, often constricting at the junction with the body creating a candlestick shape. Candlestick bottles first appear in the second half of the first century CE, alongside the piriform bottles. This bottle however is an irregular candlestick bottle as they most commonly have bell-shaped bodies.
