Name/Title

Hounskull

Description

She was one of the Museum's 2015 Emerging Artists. Her technique is both traditional and contemporary, as she uses oil painting and glazing techniques developed during the Renaissance and compositions inspired by Medieval iconography in Conjunction with extreme chiaroscuro and contemporary pigments. She builds her own stretchers; she begins with a black ground and a grisaille under painting then applies layers and layers of translucent colored glazes on the under painting to achieve a translucent three- dimensional effect.
