Name/Title
ApocolypsoDescription
Internationally known ceramic artist Andy Nasisse is a visionary sculptor who works from the inside out, that is, the figure emerges from his subconscious as the clay changes and transforms under the touch of a master technician. The multiple layering of matte and glossy glazes create a surface energy and tension that contributes to the overall tension of the work. Apocalyso depicts a male and female figure dancing on the northern pole of an elliptical globe. The title is a play on the words calypso and apocalypse. The artist is exploring the concept of man dancing madly over the natural world, threatening the end of time yet dancing the last dance.
