Interpretation:
Working in the Cubist style for which he became so well known, in this lithograph, Braque explores a pictorial space distinct from that of factual reality. The still life, which had become his preferred subject, offers a limited field of perception. This work lacks a central focus. The almost translucent objects, a glass on the left and a pair of fruit in a dish to the right, seem to merge with and almost pulsate with the image.Collection
