diptych framed together as one piece
Neighborhood Watch, reflects in its depiction of suburbia the artificial hues of the urban view: blue-green sidewalks and houses against yellow-orange grass. …The viewer hovers over above the scene with no secure vantage point: six meticulously rendered middle-class homes lining a precisely drawn street. Light recalling that of Rembrandt shines from the windows, radiating in luminous patches against the lawns and sidewalks. In the left panel—subtitled The Fight…, two men are locked in struggle, their figures casting oblique shadows against the reflection of a streetlamp. Neighbors are beginning to converge from all angles on the confrontation. In the lower right of the second panel called The Secret, a glove lies on the ground, surrounded by quizzical spectators.Artwork Details
