Description

Three quarter view self portrait part of a series of a lifelong exercise of painterly self introspection. This painting is early in the series, shirtless, with face not entirely in full view. shows the unbroken face before his automobile accident in 1970 that caused a reconstruction of the bone and his skull. Color palette and approach indicative of influences of Arts students League in New York where he was studying at that time.
