Les Youie recalls that the YCL first had these blazers made around 1956 when I was Secretary. We wore them to all YCL Official functions, particularly dinner dances and functions where we needed to let people know that the YCL had a strong input. Mainly committee members and footballers bought them. (email to Sophie 12 December 2009). They were first made for and worn at the Melbourne Olympic Games functions in 1956. During the Games, the Chinese (Nationalists) had a participating soccer team and the YCL entertained the team and officials while they were in Melbourne. The last time they would have been worn was probably at the end of 1978. This was the year that both Russell Moy and Les Youie decided to hand over the running of the YCL Annual Tennis Tournament to the younger members of the YCL. Les can't remember the blazers being worn after this time (email to Sophie, 13 December 2009).Acquisition
