Photo album originally belonging to Allerta Ives (04/1884 - 05/31/1954) of Benicia. Contains mostly pictures of owner's family and friends, but also contains some views of Benicia. Alberta Ives father was Edward H Ives (1858/1863) who in 1900 was a professional studio photographer in Benicia (EH Ives Art Studio). Alberta worked as a teacher in Alameda before marrying Walter M Christie about 1913.
This is a scan of three of the photos on those pages in that album. It shows the"Ammunition House" in Benicia" which is the Clock Tower.
This storehouse was designed by Benicia Arsenal Commander Franklin D. Callender and Jeremiah Fuss in 1858. Caleb Merrill was the Master Mason. Construction began in 1859 and was completed in 1860.Collection
