This is an exchange of letters between a German Prisoner of War (POW) and people in Benicia. The POW was writing to the Mayor of Benicia asking for photographs of the prison where he stayed for two months during WWII. His name is Kurt Trummer. He was in the German Africa Corps (Afrika-Korps). The stationary he used has markings from that unit. The mayor asked Harry Wassmann to answer the man.
Unfortunately, at that time we could not locate any period photographs from the time that Mr. Trummer was at the Benicia Arsenal.Collection
