"On the 1st day of July 1868, the Confederate States of America will pay to the Bearer of the Bond, at the seat of Government or at such place of deposit as may be appointed by the Secretary of the Treasury the sum of One Hundred Dollars with interest thereon from date at the rate of Eight per Cent per Annum. Payable semiannually on the surrender of the annexed Coupons. This Contract is authorized by an Act of Congrass approved February 20, 1863, Entitled. An Act to authorize the issue of Bonds for funding Treasury Notes and is upon the Express conditon that said Confederate States may from time to time extend the time of payment for any period not exceeding thirty years from this date, at the same rate of interest, upon the surrender of the Bond."
