Penmanship Instruction Book "Payson, Dunton & Scribner" "National System in 12 Numbers, Revised and Improved" New York - Potter, Ainsworth & Company "Entered according to act of congress in the year 1870 by Woolworth, Ainsworth & Co. in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the District of Massachusetts The pages inside have all be written on and they have been cut into horizontal strips; The name "James O'Donnell" is written on the front and back; 7" x 8-1/2" Pages are not numbered There is a newspaper articles glued to the cover: "Old Copy Book Found Under City Hall" "While P.G. and E. Co. employees were crawling under the City Hall this morning, they discovered an old writing copy book, which had evidently lain under the floor for many years. The name on the book was Lottie O'Donnell and the date July 12, 1875. The Book is in a fine state of preservation. It was turned over to George Alves, who will place it in the exhibit in the new Benicia museum that is being assembled in the City Hall." (It does not seem to refer to this book.)
