Scope and Content

This is a cartoon of "The Benicia Boy" aka the fighter, John Heenan, from Benicia. size 9.5" x 6.25" "The Benicia Boy astonishes Miss Birches Establishment". Original colored engraving by John Leech and H K Browne "Phiz" in 1840-1855. John Leech was a great English caricaturist illustrator (1817-1864) who collaborated in several publications with Hablot Knight Browne (pseudonym Phiz) (1815-1882).
