Framed Certificate under glass. There are three lithograph images at the top: center is the image of the Statue of Liberty [copyright 1883 by the American Bank Note Co. New York]; on the left is an image of George Washington and to the right is an image of an unidentified man. The Certificate was sent from The American Committee on the Statue of Liberty.
The text reads: Presented by the / "People of the Republic of France to the People of the United States of America hereby certify that the Officers, Civilian Employees and Enlisted Men of Benicia Arsenal have contributed the sum of Thirty-four 25/100 dollars (thro' J. M. McAllister Col of Ordnance) to the fund for the erection of a suitable Pedestal for this Magnificent Monument."
