Scope and Content

This is a deed to Jane C. & E.J.C. Paladine (her daughter) dated 06/01/1868. It is part of the activities to entitle people in Benicia to their own property after the Supreme Court decided the sales from General Vallejo related to the Soscol Ranch were invalid. This deed conveys the East two-thirds of the West half of lot 3 in block 13 to Jane and Elizabeth Paladine. (This is the lot just off First street on East "D" street.) The City Trustees are the party of the first part and are E.H. Von Pfister, James F. Swain, and Cornelius B. Houghton. The cost for this transaction was $3.85. It was requested by George Riddell on Oct. 24th, 1873.
