This is an original deed for the west half of the east half of lot 12 in block 75 in Benicia. The deed is dated 06/01/1868 and is for the sum of $3.85. This is an example of a deed provided to Benicia land owners after the Supreme Court case ruled that the lands sold via the Soscul Ranch from General Vallej were not valid. This required the City of Benicia (as well as other cities in Solano County) to have land owners re-title their property. In this case the land owner, Thomas Harrington, must file a new deed for his partial lot and pay the $3.85 administrative fee to the city of Benicia.
