Design Report Additions and Improvements To Water Supply System City of Benicia California October 1966 Brown and Caldwell, Consulting Engineers 66 Mint Street San Francisco, California This report covers the preliminary design of water system improvements for the City of Benicia under an agreement dated September 20, 1966. It is a recommendation for Stage I of a long- range program to serve an expanded water service area at full development to include: (1) 36" Cordelia transmission main to bring water from Putah South Canal, (2) water treatment plant having a capacity of 8 million gallons per day, (3) 24" transmission main connecting the inlet of the treatment plant with Lake Herman, (4) raw water pumping station to supply untreated water to the Humble refinery, (5) major supply conduits to deliver treated water to distribution system, (6) enlargement and revisions to the existing Arsenal filtration plant to enhance reliability and (7) distribution system improvements consisting of one reservoir, one booster pumping sttion, about 8-1/2 miles of 6" to 30" pipelines with 73 fire hydrants and necessary valves, fittings and other appurtenances. The cost was estimated to be $5,027,000.
