B/W copy of a sketch from 1856 of the Benicia Brewery with the Old State Capital building in the background. Also attached is a copy of the original drawing in color found in the California State Library collection.
Stamped on the back is "Lenoir Miller Collection" and written in green ink (maybe by Mrs. Miller) is "This was perhaps the earliest sketch made of these bldgs. The original, a watercolor, was dated "1856 R.R.' It is the Benicia Brewery with the Old State Capitol in the background. The Brewery bldg. was previously the California House, first hotel in Solano County, operated by Major Stephen Cooper in the 1840's."Collection
