Directions: The examiner should take at least 3 successive tests of right and left grips (with the wrist in moderate dorsiflexion) and tabulate each reading, requesting the patient to put forth his best effort on each trial. The stop hand should be turned back to 0 before each test.
Palpation of the degree of contraction of the flexor muscles of the forearm and observation of the changes in circulation about the knuckles will be of value in determining whether the patient is putting forth his best efforts.
