This is a letter to Samuel C Gray in Baltimore from his mother, Joanna Gray, and his sister Emily N Gray Pitman dated 08/23/1846. Joanna talks about her health and disliking living where she is now residing. Emily says that their mother has been ill but also acting erratic to the point that Emily contemplates she may need to be hospitalized. She hopes he will visit soon.
