2024.10.1.261Description
This is a letter dated 08/25/1847 from Samuel Gray's sister Mary Joanna Gray regarding family matters. She corrects what her brother-in-law Lewis said about her being engaged. She is emphatic that she has not accepted the professions of love from Mr Tichnor. She says she wants to start teaching school again even though Maria and Lewis would prefer she didn't. She also says she is very content living in Columbus.
She mentioned letters she has to respond to including a very affectionate letter from William Blanding (he was noted in a letter in 1844 as having proposed to Mary).
