2024.10.1.262Description
This is a letter dated 11/07/1847 from Samuel Gray's sister Mary Joanna Gray regarding family matters. The main part of the letter concerns Mary's feelings for Ezekial C Davis (1823 - 1856) who boarded with Mary's sister Maria and husband Lewis Wells. Ezekial left home at age 15 and has had little schooling. Ezekial is now a partner with Lewis in his store. They seem to be planning on living together until he can set aside some money. The only documentation I can find on him is a newspaper notice selling all goods in his store in 1849.
Mary is teaching school and has 12 students.
