Description

This is a letter to Samuel and Lucy Gray in Baltimore from his mother, Joanna Gray, dated 04/16/1848. Samuel and Lucy were married 12/14/1847 in Middletown, Connecticut and evidently Samuel's mother has not yet met Lucy in person. Samuel's sister Emily writes half the letter as Joanna's eyes are getting weak. Emily tells of an Issac who visited Uncle Daniel in Boston. Emily reports that her friend Amelia A. has also died. Emily also says that a Mr. Perkins owes their mother $100 plus interest and asks Samuel to write to him and collect the amount due for their mother.
