2024.10.1.264Description
This is a letter dated 07/20/1848 from Samuel Gray's sister Mary Joanna to Lucy Wetmore Gray regarding family matters. She writes about the letters she has received and the ones she intends to write. She describes her trip to Saratoga Springs with her uncle and the taste of the water she drank there. At one point she mentions that her birthday is tomorrow, the 27 Th, and she will be 28 years old (making her birth date 07/27/1820). (NOTE: The letter is dated the 20th which would make her birthday the 21 st. A small discrepancy.)
She mentions a letter from Pannella Tarbox. The name is unique enough that she may be related to Samuel Allen Tarbox (1824 - 1882) who was born in East Windsor, Hartford Conn, married Mary Jane Hyde in Middletown, Conn (1861) and had a ranch and property in Benicia, CA.
