2024.10.1.252Description
This is a letter dated 04/05/1852 from Mother Rebecca Hubbard Wetmore (1795 - 1885) to Samuel Gray regarding family matters. She mentions their son Edward's (1849 - 1920) health and the expected visit from her daughter Lucy (1820 - 1879). She is anxious to see Lucy and her grandchild and wishes they wouldn't go to New York first.
She mentions having honey for her tea and that she expects Samuel can't get honey in California. She says she has thought of sending some out and believes bees can't live in California.
She mentions the upcoming elections and the fact that they won't be able to pass the "Maine Liquor Laws" (prohibition - see below). She also mentions her son Henry (1828 - 1899) who is mining in California.
