2025.12.1.62Description
This is a letter from Lucy Wetmore Gray in Andover to her husband Samuel C Gray dated 09/12/1852. She talks of her travels to Andover and arriving at her Aunt Deborahs. She says that her Uncle gave her a lecture for "leaving her husband". (note: These letters from Lucy on the East Coast have indicated that Samuel and she were having marital problems, but this is the first direct indication of them being separated.)
The letter then talks of "Mother's" situation in Stillwater and her problems with Mr. Evans. (note: I think this is Samuel's mother who is married to Mr. Evans.)
The letter becomes hard to read at this point because of ink that shows thru the paper from the other side. It seems to have been written over three or four days from 09/12/1852 to 09/15/1852 and is mostly about family problems.Letter Details
