Gray Letters 1852 10 02Entry/Object ID
2024.10.1.270Description
This is a letter dated 10/02/1852 from Samuel Gray's sister Mary Joanna to her brother Samuel Gray regarding family matters. She starts by answering Samuel's question about why she never had any children of her own. She seems to regret not having had one child but has never wanted a bunch of children. As to the reason, she seems to have no idea.
Much of the letter criticizes her sister Affa Maria Gray's (1810 - 1844) husband Lewis W Wells (1817 - 1879). He borrows money and doesn't repay it and he is not very successful in business.
