This is a letter to Samuel C Gray from his uncle on his mother's side, Edward Powers. The letter is written while he is in New York, NY. Mr. Powers again recounts his travels in the "West" meaning Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Indiana. He also shares his opinion of various family members with Samuel. At the end of the letter, he says that he is sharing the results of the Presidential election and seems glad that the Whig party has done so poorly. (The Whigs were pro-abolition in this election.)Collection
