Gray Letters 1852 11 03Entry/Object ID
2025.12.1.76Description
This is a letter from Lucy Wetmore Gray on the East Coast to her husband Samuel C Gray in Benicia dated 11/03/1852. She talks about their son Eddie and his health problems. She seems to prefer Homeopathic medicines than those prescribed by a doctor.
At the end of the letter she mentions that Pierce has won the Presidency. She also expresses concern for the Whig party as it is being taken over by the Irish. She mentions that Boston may soon become an "Irish" city as they keep moving in and others leave to get away from them.
Note: The election of Pierce to the Presidency dates the letter to 1852.
