This is a letter from Samuel Cotton Gray in Benicia to his brother-in-law Chauncey E Wetmore probably in Contra Costa County California dated 10/16/1856. Mr. Gray is writing this on his 40th birthday. The letter is very philosophical and expresses many of his religious beliefs.
