This is a letter dated 10/01/1857 from Mother Rebecca Hubbard Wetmore to Lucy Gray in Benicia. She has been waiting for a letter from Lucy and is disappointed not to have received one. She mentions that earlier letters of Lucy's may have been lost with the sinking of the steamer Central America.
She mentions sending a packet to Lucy via the "Doctor" who was traveling to California. She also talks of various produce she has been preserving.
