Gray Letters 1859 unknownEntry/Object ID
2024.10.1.293Description
This is a letter, undated, to Harriet Wetmore Jones from her mother Rebecca Wetmore regarding family matters. She mainly talks about her son Henry Wetmore and the fact that he is leaving. She wanted to send gifts to Harriet's children in California by Henry but says he can't take them along with his "stock". She also mentions Lucy being there and her plans. A previous letter dated 05/05/1859 from Samuel Gray talks about Henry trying to bring sheep and horses back to California and the problems he will have. I assume this letter was written about that same time since both Henry Wetmore and Samuel Gray are in the East and it mentions "stock" that Henry is bringing home.
