The image shows a handwritten letter dated May 23, 1865, from E. E. Hathaway in Suisun. Addressed to "Friend Gray", the letter says they have an invitation from M. Charles to attend the Exercises at the Young Ladies Seminary. He is asking Samuel Gray to give them a report for the newspaper.
He also asks for Mr. Gray's opinion of his running for Recordership assuming Mr. Houghton ousts Mr. Riddell from the position of Treasurer.
(There is an Edward Hathaway (1836 - ?) in the 1860 U.S. Census in Suisun City listed as a printer. This may be the auther of this letter.Collection
