2024.10.1.356Description
This is a letter dated 08/19/1878 from Mr. Samuel C. Gray to his sister Mary Morton regarding mainly financial matters. Samuel is having financial difficulties and must pay off his debtors at 50% owed. He had a visit from his old clerk/partner, Edward Crocker, who was trying to get preference in being paid by Samuel.
The problem effects his family too. Gertrude is still going to school, Theodore is trying to get into law school, and Edward is having a hard time establishing himself as a physician in San Francisco. Even Samuel's brother, Edward, is thinking of leaving California.
