This is a letter dated 07/13/1879 from Mother Rebecca Hubbard Wetmore to Samuel C Gray in Benicia. Rebecca is writing to express her sorrow at the death of her daughter and Samuel's wife Lucy Wetmore Gray (12/20/1820 - 07/02/1879). At the end of the letter Rebecca mentions the birth of a new child. This is probably the birth of Samuel's grandson, Samuel Herbert Gray (06/29/1879 - 03/10/1937), the son of Dr. Edward Gray and his wife, Gertrude Colton Gray.
