This is a letter dated 09/03/1879 from Mr. Edward Gray to Mr. Samuel C. Gray regarding mainly family matters. He does mention keeping some stock since he thinks the Sutro Tunnel will increase the value of the stock. (See attached regarding the Sutro Tunnel.)
He also mentions the Breck Estate. Samuel Gray was the executor of the estate of the Rev. James Breck and had some disputes over his handling of the estate (see letter 2024.10.1.216).
Edward also alludes to the death of Samuel's wife, Lucy Wetmore Gray (1820 - 07/02/1879), when suggesting he should return home to the support of his family.
