This is a letter dated 09/26/1879 from Mr. Edward Powers Gray to Mr. Samuel C. Gray regarding mainly business matters. He talks of stock he owns and the effect of the Sutro Tunnel on its value (see below). He mentions sending his daughter, Affa (1862 - 1899) to the nearby Normal school (the 1893 City Directory of 1893 shows her profession as teacher).
He talks of his daughter, Lulu (probably Louisa - 1869 to 1900) missing California and her sister Bertha (1866 - 1878). He talks of other family members and their health. Lastly, he talks of the lectures he is giving and his desire to publish a treatise on Ecclesiastical Polity.
