2024.10.1.331Description
This is a letter dated 03/29/1880 from Mr. Edward Powers Gray to Mr. Samuel C. Gray regarding mainly financial matters. There is some discussion of a mortgage and the security for the loan. Edward thinks that the loan to property value is too high and makes the proposition too risky. He then talks of his own legacy and if he were to die today what he sees as the value of his life.
At the end of the letter, he chastises Samuel for considering "travelling in the dependence of others" as he suggested in his last letter. The details of this situation are not explained but Edward seems very upset by his brother's proposal.
Edward also mentions Rev. Dr. James McElroy's poor health.
