This is a letter dated 07/17/880 from Mr. Edward Powers Gray to Mr. Samuel C. Gray regarding business and family matters. Edward compares the dry heat of California to the muggy heat they are experiencing. He says many people head to the country for relief as his daughter is going tp do. He talks of his other daughter, Affa, and her behavior which Samuel has commented on. It seems that there is some friction between Samuel and Affa.
Edward talks of their taking a meal with Mr. & Mrs. Walsh when their stove went out and they offered to pay for it but were refused. He then comments that Mr. Walsh must have gotten greedy in his later years as there is something about a hat rack that involves Samuel.
At the end he comments on Samuel's loneliness (his wife Lucy died the prior year).
