This is a letter dated 05/23/1881 from Elijah Stewart to Mr. Gray. Mr. Stewart is in Campello, MA (near Brocton, MA). He mentions wanting to go to California and thinks his health would be better. He also mentions Mr. Gray's partner, Mr. Crocker, who is living close to Mr. Stewart but he seldom sees.
The obituary of Mr. Stewart tells of his going to California with a group that included Mr. Crocker in 1848. He lived in California for 13 years and then relocated to the East Coast.
