This is a letter dated 07/11/1881 from Mr. Edward Powers Gray to Mr. Samuel C. Gray regarding mainly family matters. Edward is taking his family to the country, Mt. Airy, for rest and health reasons. He talks about his daughter's travels and congratulates Samuel's son Theo on graduating from law school.
He mentions the assassination attempt on President Garfield and praises the reaction from the country. (The President later dies from his wounds.)
